Those are the important questions for every crocheter. It is easy to eyeball for a hat or an amigurumi toy, but what about bigger crochet projects such as blankets?
The answers are below!
Crochet blanket is a very loose term. It can be a baby security blanket, crib blanket, couch throw or a full size afghan.
CROCHET BLANKETS STANDARD SIZES:
The best and most sure way to calculate how much yarn would you need for the blanket you are making is to crochet a small (approximately 7'-10") square swatch and to notice how much yarn was used ( by the weight or by the lenght), and then do some simple math to figure out that if you use "X" amount of yarn to get that big swatch, how much yarn do you need to crochet the blanket, say, 3x"Y" big.
NOTE: always be on the safe side and if possible, get a bit more yarn then calculated - after all, there is so many ideas on how to use yarn leftrovers!
